It can also be found in Iceland and in Scandinavia. It is sporadically found in other parts of Northern and Western Europe as individuals. Both the Trønder and the Anglo-Saxon types have Brünn components. This is a northwestern European Cromagnid type (CM), related to the Dalofaelid type, its counterpart. It is typically a dolicho or mesocephalic type in its 'pure' form. The type takes its name from the German name of the Czech town of Brno, and was originally used by the American anthropologist Carleton S. Coon because of the similarities between skulls found in an archeological site in that place and this type. European colonists brought the type to North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. This type was historically painted out as being the stereotypical Irish phenotype, and can often be found in historical caricatures of Irish people but shown in a demeaning manner.
