Description

Centralid subtype with a position between Pueblid and Isthmid and a variety of unique features. Was the dominant element in the ancient Maya civilisation of Southern Mexico and Guatemala, where it is still common even today. Also in many groups from Oaxaca like Mixtec, Zapotec, Chinantec, Huave, and others.[1]

Physical Traits

Medium, sometimes light brown skin with straight or wavy hair. Short, meso- sometimes macroskelic, ectomorph, sometimes endomorph. (Hyper-)brachycephalic, hypsi- to chamaecranic. Mesorrhine, long and often convex nose. The face is small, angular, and the chin is often receding. The mouth is wide, forehead narrow, eyes mildly slanting.
